Location and Accessibility:
Pınar 1 Wreck is located on the southeast side of Black Island in Bodrum, accessible via a 35-minute boat ride from The Divers Club. The site is home to the Pınar 1, a historic German-built water transport ship that was commissioned in 1938. After serving in the Turkish Navy, it was decommissioned and gifted to Bodrum to become an artificial reef, intentionally sunk by BOSAD in 2007.

Dive Route:

  • Starting Depth: 5 meters
    • The dive begins with a descent over a small wall that reaches 14 meters.
  • Wreck Exploration:
    • Posidonia Meadows: After descending to 14 meters, divers swim for about 4 minutes over lush posidonia seagrass, heading towards the Pınar 1 Wreck. The wreck appears as a striking silhouette against the backdrop of the blue sea.
    • Wreck Details:
      • The stern of the ship rests at 23 meters, while the deck is positioned at approximately 18 meters deep.
      • The wreck itself is 37 meters long and 7 meters wide, with the maximum depth reaching 34 meters in the open sea.
      • Experienced wreck divers will appreciate the multiple entry points into the wreck, offering opportunities to explore its inner chambers and structures.

Marine Life and Features:

  • Wreck Habitat:
    • The Pınar 1 serves as a shelter for various marine species, particularly scorpion fish, which often seek refuge inside the wreck.
    • Divers may also encounter: Brown meagres, Groupers, Lionfish, Moray eels, Lobsterscrabs, Dentex and Learfish
  • Photographers: The Pınar 1 Wreck provides an excellent opportunity for underwater photographers, with its striking silhouette against the open sea and the unique marine life that inhabits the wreck.
