Location and Accessibility:
The Outer Poyraz dive site is located in the southeast of Black Island, Bodrum, and is accessible via a 40-minute boat ride with The Divers Club. Known for its choppy surface conditions, this site offers an exciting dive experience, featuring one of the longest wall dives in Bodrum and a reef that is recognized for its potential encounters with sharks in the deeper sections.

Dive Routes:

Dive Route 1: The Wall

  • Starting Depth: 4 meters
    • The dive begins in a small bay, with a gradual swim towards the open sea.
  • Wall Exploration:
    • As divers move deeper, the depth increases to 8 meters, leading to a drop-off that marks the beginning of the wall.
    • The wall extends to a maximum depth of over 45 meters, providing a vertical drop that offers a striking underwater landscape.
    • Marine Life:
      • Large schools of jackfish and learfish are commonly encountered along the wall.
      • The wall dive is particularly suited for DPV divers, allowing for a more dynamic exploration of this expansive dive site.

Dive Route 2: The Reef

  • Starting Depth: 4 meters
    • Similar to the wall dive, the route begins in the small bay, with divers swimming towards the open sea, navigating between posidonia on the right and rock formations on the left.
  • Reef Exploration:
    • As divers approach 30 meters, they will encounter a significant drop-off, extending beyond 50 meters in depth.
    • Upon reaching the drop-off, divers turn left and gradually ascend over the reef.
    • Marine Life:
      • large school of barracudas can often be seen swimming above the posidonia.
      • Various Mediterranean fish species can be spotted near the rock formations.
      • The deeper sections of the reef are particularly known for the potential sighting of sharks, making this site a unique experience for those interested in encountering larger marine species.
