Location and Accessibility:
The Poyraz Bay dive site is located on the southeast of Black Island, Bodrum, and is accessible via a 4O-minute boat ride with The Divers Club. The bay is a popular anchoring spot for charter and private yachts, making it a serene location for divers. It is especially ideal for novice divers looking to embark on their first discovery dive due to its shallow entry and rich marine life.

Dive Route:

Starting Depth: 3 meters

  • Initial Conditions:
    • The dive begins at a shallow depth of 3 meters, with rocky formations to the diver’s right.
    • Divers swim outward from the bay, exploring the underwater landscape.

Progression to Depth:

  • Gradual Descent:
    • As divers move away from the bay, the depth gradually increases to 30 meters.
    • At this point, divers make a slight turn to the right, following an underwater wall that extends down to a maximum depth of 40 meters.

Rock Pillars and Marine Life:

  • Rock Features:
    • Around 25 meters, divers will encounter several large rock pillars scattered across the seafloor. These pillars provide hiding spots for marine life.
    • Marine Life:
      • Crabs and lobsters are commonly found in the crevices of the rocks.
      • Divers can also encounter a range of Mediterranean species, including groupersjackfishmoray eelsoctopuses, and lionfish.

  • 40 meters

    This site is perfect for those doing their first discovery dive due to its shallow start and gradual descent. For Advanced Divers and DPV Divers, the deeper sections of the dive offer a challenging and rewarding experience.
  • Marine Life:
    The abundant marine life, such as groupers and jackfish, adds an exciting element to the dive. The presence of crabs and lobsters around the rock formations makes this site a great location for underwater photography.
  • Depth Control:
    As divers progress to the deeper areas of the site, it’s important to maintain depth control, particularly in the 40-meter range, where the underwater wall presents a stunning but more technical environment.
