OTTOMAN ANCHOR

Location and Accessibility:
The Ottoman Anchor dive site is located to the west of Bitez Bay, near Aquarium Bay, and can be reached with a 20-minute boat ride from The Divers Club. The most effective way to explore the site is through a direct drop-off to the reef, where the Ottoman Anchor lies at a depth of 25 to 27 meters.

Dive Features and Marine Life:
The Ottoman Anchor, measuring between 3 and 5 meters in size, is surrounded by fascinating rock formations that provide a rich environment for marine life. These rock formations serve as a habitat for various species and offer excellent opportunities for underwater observation. The site reaches maximum depths of 35 meters.

Divers can encounter a wide variety of marine life, including:

  • Groupers
  • Schools of barracudas
  • Moray eels
  • Octopus habitats nestled among the rocks

The unique topography of the area, along with the rich marine ecosystem, makes this dive particularly interesting for underwater exploration.

Dive Site Characteristics:

  • Maximum Depth: 35 meters
  • Type of Dive: Reef Dive, Deep Dive, Boat Dive, DPV Dive
  • Ideal for: Experienced divers, particularly those with an Advanced Open Water Diver certification or equivalent. Divers interested in Deep Diving or using an Underwater Scooter (DPV) will find this site especially rewarding.

Recommendations:

  • For those planning to dive from the shore, the use of a DPV (Underwater Scooter) is highly recommended to ease movement across the reef. However, for drop-off dives, prior experience is essential.
  • Advanced Open Water Diver certification and Deep Diver qualifications are required to ensure safety and maximum enjoyment of the dive.
