BIG REEF

Location and Accessibility:
Big Reef is located just a 20-minute boat ride from The Divers Club, positioned strategically between the Bodrum Peninsula and Black Island, directly opposite Saint Peter Castle. This prime location places it as one of Bodrum’s most celebrated dive sites, offering a rich variety of marine life and striking underwater topography.

Dive Features and Route:
Big Reef is characterized by an underwater hill, with the summit starting at a shallow depth of 5 meters. This site is especially well-suited for drop-off dives, where divers experience the thrilling sensation of descending into deeper waters, reaching a maximum depth of 34 meters. The expansive, panoramic views around Big Reef are exceptional, with its circular shape offering divers a unique opportunity to explore the surrounding marine environment.

The route around Big Reef varies depending on the currents, which can influence the direction of the dive. Divers typically follow a circular path around the reef, exploring the diverse marine habitats. The site is famous for its rich biodiversity, making it a prime spot for spotting both larger pelagic species and smaller reef dwellers.

Marine Life:
Big Reef is a highly productive environment, attracting a wide range of species, including: Groupers, Tunafish, Bonitos, Barracudas, Jackfish, Learfish, Dentex, Stingrays, Moray eels, Octopuses, Lionfish, Crabs, lobsters, and tritons

The reef is also a prime habitat for nudibranchs, offering excellent opportunities for underwater photography. The diversity of species and the stunning visuals of the site make it an ideal location for capturing the essence of the marine world.

Special Features:

  • Underwater Scooters (DPVs) are highly recommended, allowing divers to cover both Big Reef and the neighboring Small Reef in one dive, enhancing the overall exploration experience.
  • The panoramic views, combined with the site’s rich marine biodiversity, make it one of the best spots in Bodrum for underwater photography.

Dive Site Characteristics:
