SG115 COAST GUARD WRECK

Location and Accessibility:
The SG115 Coast Guard Wreck is situated adjacent to Barracuda Point near Black Island, Bodrum, and is accessible via a 25-minute boat ride from The Divers Club. This dive site offers two distinct diving routes, making it a versatile destination for divers of various skill levels.

Dive Routes:

1. Dive Route 1 – SG115 Coast Guard Wreck:
   • Starting Depth: 3 meters
   • Dive Path: The dive begins at a shallow depth, where divers swim over posidonia seagrass for approximately 7 to 8 minutes until the wreck becomes visible at the sandy bottom. The wreck is a German-built coast guard vessel that served the Turkish Coast Guard before being decommissioned and sunk in 2007 to create an artificial reef. The stern of the wreck rests on rocky terrain at a depth of 18 meters, while the bow extends towards the open sea, reaching a maximum depth of 29 meters.
   • Wreck Exploration: Divers can navigate along the bridge, moving from one entrance to another, experiencing the excitement of exploring the well-preserved wreck.
   • Marine Life: With some luck, divers may spot schools of leer fish and stingrays on the sandy floor. Additionally, various shrimp species can be found in the wreck’s hidden compartments. This route offers an intriguing mix of wreck exploration and marine life encounters.
2. Dive Route 2 – Alarga Wall:
   • Starting Depth: 3 meters
   • Dive Path: This dive gradually descends to 32 meters, and at that depth, divers turn slightly to the right to follow the Alarga Wall, which reaches a maximum depth of 34 meters. The return journey typically experiences minimal current, providing a relaxing dive back to the starting point.
   • Marine Life: The wall offers opportunities to encounter schools of fish, including dentex and leer fish, as well as groupers, moray eels, lionfish, crabs, lobsters, and tritons. Vibrant nudibranchs can also be found along the wall, adding to the site’s biodiversity.
