KARGI ISLAND

Location and Accessibility:
Kargı Island is located on the western side of the Bodrum Peninsula, near Akyarlar Bay, and is easily accessible via a 30-minute boat ride from The Divers Club. Known for its frequent and strong currents, the dive site is ideal for more experienced divers. These currents usually start at depths around 7-8 meters, extending to 25 meters, and their direction can change daily. The currents help support a rich and diverse marine ecosystem, making this a captivating spot for underwater exploration.

Dive Routes:

  1. Left Wall (Shallow and Accessible):
The left wall offers a shallower, more accessible dive option for those who prefer a more relaxed dive. While this area still has interesting underwater features, it is less demanding in terms of current strength and depth.
  2. Hidden Reef (Maze-like Environment):
The most intriguing aspect of Kargı Island is its hidden reef, made up of intricate walls and volcanic pillars that form a maze-like environment. Divers can navigate comfortably through these formations, making it an ideal location for underwater photography. The area offers stunning underwater scenery and abundant marine life.

This section is particularly suitable for Underwater Scooters (DPV), allowing divers to cover larger areas while enjoying the underwater landscape.

Marine Life:
Kargı Island’s diverse ecosystem offers encounters with a variety of Mediterranean species, including: Groupers, Schools of Barracudas, Jackfish, Learfish, Dentex, Stingrays, Moray eels, Octopuses, Cuttlefish, Squids, Lionfish, Crabs and Lobsters

These species, among others, contribute to the dynamic and vibrant underwater environment of Kargı Island.
