The RAID Junior Scuba Diver program is tailor-made for children aged 12 to 14 who are eager to explore the underwater world but may not have the time to commit to the full Junior Open Water 20 course. This program offers a comprehensive yet manageable introduction to scuba diving and marine exploration, serving as a stepping stone to more advanced training.

Designed with young learners in mind, the program builds on the foundational principles of the RAID Junior Open Water 20 course, combining fun, safety, and skill development in a supportive environment.

Prerequisites

To join the RAID Junior Scuba Diver program, participants must:

  • Be between 12 and 14 years old.
  • Be comfortable in the water and capable of performing basic swimming skills.
  • Approach the course with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn while having fun!

Course Content

This program combines academic knowledge with hands-on practice to create a well-rounded learning experience:

  1. Academic Training:
  • Gain access to engaging presentations, quizzes, and exams via RAID’s user-friendly e-learning platform or mobile app.
  • Learn about essential diving concepts, safety protocols, and underwater navigation techniques.
  1. Skill Development:
  • Master all required skills as outlined in the RAID training manual.
  • Before proceeding to open water dives, students will need to demonstrate their abilities to an instructor, including:
    • 10-minute survival swim/float without swimming aids (e.g., mask, fins, snorkel).
    • Swimming techniques:
      • Swim 200 meters without aids, or
      • Swim 300 meters using a mask, fins, and snorkel.
  • Students can wear diving suits if conditions require, provided they are neutrally buoyant.

Course Duration & Structure

  • Time Commitment: Minimum of two days to complete.
  • In-Water Experience: Includes at least one hour of underwater time in open water.
  • Dive Requirements: Two open water dives with a depth limit of 12 meters (40 feet).

Certification

Upon successfully completing the program, students will receive an electronic certification card. This certification allows young divers to explore the underwater world under the direct supervision of a professional dive instructor, with a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet).
