NORMOXIC TRIMIX REBREATHER DIVER

NORMOXIC TRIMIX REBREATHER DIVER

Advanced Technical Training for Deep Exploration

The Normoxic Trimix Rebreather Diver course is an advanced technical program designed for experienced divers looking to extend their limits to depths of 60 meters (200 feet) using normoxic trimix on a closed-circuit rebreather (CCR). This rigorous program focuses on developing the skills, knowledge, and fitness required for conducting deep dives safely and efficiently, incorporating extensive decompression and complex equipment setups.

Purpose of the Course

The program prepares divers to:

  • Plan and execute decompression dives to a maximum depth of 60 meters/200 feet using normoxic trimix.
  • Operate and maintain a rebreather system under challenging conditions.
  • Manage complex gas mixes, including at least two bailout cylinders (three in certain cases).
  • Conduct dives with up to 60 minutes of mandatory decompression stops per dive.

Course Highlights

Gas Management and Parameters:

  • Loop PO2 (Setpoint):
    • Planned setpoint shall not exceed 1.3 bar.
    • Maximum 1.4 bar for up to two minutes at depths of 6 meters/20 feet or less.
  • Open Circuit Bailout PO2: Shall not exceed 1.6 bar.
  • Diluent Gas Requirements:
    • Must contain a minimum of 16% oxygen.
    • Maximum END/EAD30 meters/100 feet.
    • On-board diluent gas PO2 must not exceed 1.1 bar at maximum depth.

Equipment Requirements:

  • Use of three stage cylinders to support extended decompression.
  • Management of at least two bailout cylinders, with the potential for three depending on dive parameters.

Depth and Dive Limits:

  • Maximum training depth:
    • 6 meters/20 feet in confined water.
    • 60 meters/200 feet in open water.
  • Required training dives:
    • Two dives to at least 45 meters/150 feet.
    • One dive to at least 55 meters/180 feet.

Student Prerequisites

To enroll in the Normoxic Trimix Rebreather Diver course, participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Hold certifications as a RAID Master Rescue Diver and RAID Limited Trimix Rebreather Diver (or equivalents).
  • Have logged:
    • 50 hours on a CCR, with at least:
      • 25 dives and 25 hours on the specific rebreather unit to be used in the course.
      • 20 dives deeper than 30 meters.
      • 10 staged decompression dives.
  • Divers with at least 25 hours of rebreather experience in the last 12 months may qualify for the CCR crossover program.

In-Water Training Requirements

  1. Training Dives:
    • 6 in-water sessions totaling at least 360 minutes of dive time.
    • Crossover divers: At least 3 in-water sessions with a minimum of 180 minutes.
  2. Mandatory Decompression Stops:
    • Dives must not exceed 60 minutes of mandatory decompression stops per dive.

Certification

Upon successful completion, divers will be certified to:

  • Conduct decompression dives to a maximum depth of 60 meters/200 feet.
  • Use normoxic trimix as a breathing gas, adhering to safety protocols and limits.
  • Manage advanced technical dive planning, equipment configurations, and emergency protocols for deep rebreather diving.
