Who Is This Program For?

The RAIDaptive Open Water 20 course is ideal for individuals with disabilities who want to explore the underwater world while receiving personalized instruction and support. Certified RAIDaptive Dive Buddies assist divers by helping with specific skills as needed, ensuring a safe and fulfilling experience.

Program Designations

The RAIDaptive program includes three certification levels based on the diver’s level of independence:

• Designation 1 (D1)
  Divers can independently perform all required skills except for entries and exits.
• Designation 2 (D2)
  Divers must independently perform most skills except for:
  • Entries and exits.
  • Emergency ascents.
  • Maintaining positive buoyancy at the surface using oral inflation of the BCD.
• Designation 3 (D3)
  Divers must independently:
  • Breathe continuously.
  • Monitor their gas supply.
    Assistance is required for all other aspects of diving.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the RAIDaptive Open Water 20 course, candidates must:

• Demonstrate fundamental swimming skills.
• Feel comfortable in the water.
• Be in good general health with medical clearance from a registered diving doctor.
• Exhibit maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to adhere to safety protocols.

Course Content

This program combines academic and practical training tailored to the individual abilities of each diver:

1. Academic Training

• Access comprehensive e-learning materials, including engaging presentations, quizzes, and a final exam.
• Course materials can be purchased through the RAID Store or The Divers Club.

2. Practical Training

• Participate in a minimum of four open water dives led by certified RAIDaptive instructors.
• Practice skill development tailored to your needs and abilities as outlined in the course manual.
• Enjoy personalized guidance and support throughout your training.

The Divers Club coordinates every aspect of your practical training to ensure a safe, effective, and enjoyable experience.

Certification Process

Earning the RAIDaptive Open Water Diver certification involves:

1. Successful completion of all required open water skills, as confirmed by both the diver and instructor via the DiveRAID website.
2. Finalizing the certification process with The Divers Club through the DiveRAID platform.
